Magic Lanterns #2 Carbon Arc Lamp

1890 and 1960 vintage Magic Lantern Projectors. This was the main way to project images before overhead projectors and motion film. The arc lamp was a bright source of light used before Edison’s incandescent lamp. Lantern Slides were made of glass and at one time hand-painted. Features a GK Delineascope from American Optical Company.

Very Nice Show and tell about an very important early lighting technology which was responsible for the growth of theater and other performance related things of the last century
Actually the first incandescent lamp was invented way before that, in 1802.
notice how it says: “Edison’s incandescent lamp”— I do not refer to the impractical prototypes constructed before Edison’s team in N.J. helped develop the world’s first long lasting filament.
for those times that arc magic projector was something like the collider for us now XD
