Magic Lanterns #2 Carbon Arc Lamp

1890 and 1960 vintage Magic Lantern Projectors. This was the main way to project images before overhead projectors and motion film. The arc lamp was a bright source of light used before Edison’s incandescent lamp. Lantern Slides were made of glass and at one time hand-painted. Features a GK Delineascope from American Optical Company.

    Actually the first incandescent lamp was invented way before that, in 1802.
